Engraved frontispiece and two headpieces by Sève after Fessard, tailpieces. Contemporary citron morocco, triple gilt fillet and arms of Madame Sophie of France on both covers, gilt spine and edges [Olivier 2514, fer 2] (corners lightly rubbed). Provenance : SOPHIE-PHILIPPINE-ELISABETH-JUSTINE DE FRANCE (1734-1782), 6th daughter of Louis XV, whose library was bound in citron morocco to distinguish it from her sisters -- Thore Virgin, Bibliotheca Qvarnforsiana (stamp) -- Rolf Wistrand (booklabel). Cohen-de Ricci 1007.
