BLAEU, Johannes. Nouveau Theatre du Piemont et de la Savoye. The Hague: Rutgert Christophle Alberts, 1725. 2 volumes in 4 parts in four volumes, 2° (600 x 385mm). French text. Titles in red and black with engraved vignettes. Engraved frontispieces, dedication armorial, double-page genealogical table, 4 portraits (one folding), 136 maps, plans, bird's-eye views, and plates (126 double-page or folding). (Margins dusty/soiled vertical creases to three views, occasional small tears to folds.) Old boards, re-covered in half roan drab paper in the early 19th-century, green leather lettering-pieces on spines, uncut (scuffed, corners bumped). A fine unsophisticated set. The first edition was published by Blaeu's heirs in 1682 with Latin text, the first with French text was published by A.Moetjens in 1700. The present edition is a re-issue of P.Mortier's edition of 1704-5. The views include Turin, Nice, Novara, Vercelli, Alessandria and Savona. Koeman I.Bl 109. (4)
