Woodcut diagrams in text. (Some pale dampstaining.) 20th-century half mottled calf, marbled boards. Provenance : Harrison D. Horblit (bookplate; his sale part I, Sotheby's London, 10 June 1974, lot 127). FIRST EDITION. Blondel de Saint-Aubin's treatise on spherical geometry details its application to navigation. VERY RARE: according to American Book Prices Current , this is the only copy to appear at auction in at least the last 40 years, when it was last sold at the Horblit sale in 1974. RLG lists only the copies in the Bell collection at the University of Minnesota and a copy at Harvard. Bell B308; Crone 271; BM/STC French 1601-1700 B1213.
