Two pages, 4to, integral blank leaf, tear at upper corner affecting the date, 3-inch fold break with small tear, light foxing , in Spanish. "Many thanks for your letter of the 6th, from Popoyán. It gives me great pleasure to hear of the positive reaction in that district to my message and proclamation [of January 20, see preceding lot]. "The commission named by the congress, consisting of General Sucre and the Bishop of Santa Marta, and which I told you about in my last letter, left for Venezuela five or six days ago; if this does not manage to cut the revolution short, at least it will do much..." Bolivar's prognostic proved incorrect, and the Venezuelan separatist movement, originally launched in 1826 by General José Antonio Páez and sonn flowering into full-scale revolt, proved successful. Published in Bolivar, Obras completas (Havana 1947), II, 2215.
