Legatura coeva restaurata in pelle, titoli in oro al dorso a 6 nervi, tagli spruzzati in azzurro. Cerniere e angoli con restauri. On the front pastedown, inked note and ex libris libris 'Thomas Foley of Great Witley Court in the County of Worcester Esq'. Second enlarged edition, supplemented with notes, of the Latin translation – made by Aringhi – of the work by Andrea Bosio, appeared posthumously in 1632 with the title Roma sotterranea.Te first version into Latin was published in 1651. Arighi was not a mere translator: en effet, he re-writes the treatise, so far that we can consider Roma subterranea a new work and very different from the one by the Malta's archaeologist. Edition enriched by a fine illustrative set, besides the map of Rome in which are located the various catacombs, more than 80 copper engravings and woodcuts depicting epigraphs and inscription. Il lavoro di Aringhi non fu di semplice versione del testo, ma anche di ampia riscrittura, al punto da poter considerare la Roma subterranea un'opera nuova e ben distinta da quella dell'archeologo maltese. Pregevole l'apparato illustrativo che comprende, oltre alla mappa ripiegata di Roma dove sono localizzate le varie catacombe, più di 80 incisioni in rame e molte xilografie che riproducono epigrafi e iscrizioni.
