Brass clasp (key is missing) Not in Heidtmann -. Rare album which was published on occasion of a charity event by Princess Eleonore von Schwarzenberg (1812 – 1873) at her Viennese palace. Considering the expensive layout and costly production value of the album, it is likely that these were exclusively made for attendants “of their own ranks” (see Wiener Salonblatt). Only members of notable Austrian aristocracies were involved in the performance (Schwarzenberg, Hoyos, Esterhazy, Larisch, Kinsky, Khevenhüller, Hohenlohe etc.). The photographs from Adèle Perlmutter’s atelier which are attached onto high quality albumen print display the performers in their costumes. The captions underneath the photographs label the captured individuals and their portrayed characters. Othon Baron de Bourgoing (1893 – 1908) was a member of the French embassy in Vienna and was an influential personality of the “Wiener Gesellschaft” (Viennese society). Later in his life he terminated his diplomatic work for France and permanently settled down in Vienna where he became the director of the “Österreichische Länderbank”. Furthermore, he dabbled as an author of numerous revues, ballets and theater plays. The texts of Couplets in German were written by the famous actor and playwright Karl Treumann (1823 – 1877). First as a member, Treumann then became the director of the Carltheater in 1860 where he was working together with Johann Nestroy and Wenzel Scholz. - Born in Galicia, Adèle Perlmutter (1845- ?) was a leading Austrian atelier photographer during the 1860’s and 1870’s. In 1860 she moved to Vienna and in 1862 her father bought her a first atelier. Her brothers Max and Wilhelm Perlmutter were co-proprietors. Her second atelier was also run under the name “Adèle”. In 1868 she received the title “K. K. Hofphotograph”. She took portraits of members of the imperial family as well as important foreign personalities. Around 1890 she withdrew her work as a photographer. Her brother Wilhelm became sole proprietor and changed the name to “Förster” at the end of the 1890’s.
