Fredeman 92.1--LYTTON, EDWARD ROBERT BULWER-LYTTON, First Earl ("Owen Meredith"). King Poppy, 1892, cream boards, pictorial front cover stamped in gilt, gilt-lettered, t.e.g., others uncut, wear at head of spine and fore-corners, spine a bit darkened , First Published Edition (preceded by an 1875 privately printed edition), illustrated title-page and frontispiece after Burne-Jones (the title-page illustration repeated on front cover), printed in red and black, PRESENTATION COPY TO BURNE-JONES from the author's widow (Lord Lytton had died the previous year), inscribed by her on verso of front free endpaper: "Edward Burne-Jones with the greatest gratitude and admiration from Edith Lytton. Nov. 1892." The final paragraph to the Introduction reads: "The frontispiece and and the design of the title-page are contributions to the work by Mr. Edward Burne-Jones to whom the Author's family desire to take this opportunity of expressing their most grateful thanks."
