Winchester Model 70 Supergrade bolt action magazine rifle in scarce .300 Savage caliber made by Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1947. Blued Winchester standard weight barrel with hooded ramp front sight and plugged rear sight boss with Winchester address and "MODEL 70" with caliber marking "300 SAVAGE". Barrel is marked "300 SAV" and dated "46". Matted finish transition style action with drilled front bridge and drilled rear bridge with Lyman 48 peep sight. Transition style bolt electropenciled with "74670" which matches gun. Bolt has solid handle and correct transition type 3-position safety. Walnut low comb checkered pistol grip stock with early style cheekpiece, Winchester logo grip cap, Widow's Peak checkered steel buttplate, black forend tip, and blued detachable floorplate marked "SUPERGRADE". Gun comes with original detachable sling swivels and is missing leather sling. CONDITION: 90% original blue with case wear and some small handling marks. 90% fading action finish with some light discoloration. Bolt handle has started to turn slightly silver from use. Wood has 90% original varnish with some hunting dings and scratches and some flaking around buttplate from poor storage. Excellent bore and mechanics with gun having been used but taken care of. A hard gun to find.
