Beschreibung:

(ca 1935) 27 - 1/2" chopper lump barrels have very deeply swamped game rib. Rear portion of rib is fitted with square shouldered dovetail extension which engages interesting rising bite third fastener. Bottoms of barrels are stamped with French nitro double proofs, along with steel type, caliber, etc. Grade "5S" is stamped on bottom of rear lump. The "S" refers to rifling in right barrel which is intended to disperse shot for close in work. It also appears that this rifling would work well with slug or ball. Rounded coin finished action has finger lever in trigger guard bow which both cocks the action and operates the bolts. Aside from the rising bite third fastener this action also features side clips, loaded chamber indicating pins, and an ambidextrous sliding safety which blocks triggers on trigger plate. Action is engraved with near full coverage large open scroll, this scroll is in semi relief on fences. Bottom of action is stamped "IDEAL". Nicely streaked European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14 - 3/4" over ribbed hard rubber buttplate with "MF" logo, over 9/16" lengthening piece. Skip line point pattern checkering is around grip, and a spring loaded leather sling runs through slot in toe line. A loop to attach this sling is soldered to barrel. Matching forend with inset hard rubber tip has interesting toggling release toward rear which is very strong and secure. CONDITION: Very good, as partially refinished. Barrels retain over 80% of what appears to be original blue, but may be an old re-blue. Action retains most of its original French grey. Stocks have old oil refinish with some subsequent marks. Checkering appears to be cleaned. There is a transverse pin through side panels of stock, associated with a 1 - 1/2" repaired crack behind top tang. Smooth bore is very fine to excellent, rifled bore has some scattered light pitting, and has a fairly large sharp dent 10" from breech end which should definitely be repaired before firing. Action is very tight. A really neat gun. MGM82. Name Value Accessories Barrel Length 27 - 1/2" Barrel Wall Thickness (L) .025 (R) .025 (difficult to measure because of rifling) Chamber 2 - 3/4" Choke (L) .044 (Full) (R) .000 (cyl) Drop at Comb 1 - 1/2" - Drop at Heel 2 - 3/8" FFL Status Curio & Relic Gauge 12 GA Internal Bore Diameter (L) .724 (R) .727 Length of Pull 14 - 3/4" Neutral cast.
