Lieutenant Colonel A.R. Madden, served throughout WWII probably in Burma, followed by operations in South East Asia during 1945-46, he then relinquished his commission on 29 October 1948, being granted the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Lieutenant-Colonel John Need, was born in 1929 a native of Chelsea, London, commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in the 1st Battalion, The Sherwood Foresters, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment in 1949, advanced to Captain in 1955, moved to Malaya with the Regiment in 1958 being based in Singapore. Various other promotions and postings and was still serving in 1977. (2)
