CHARLEMAGNE, J. [ Souvenir de St. Petersburg . St. Petersburg: Daziaro, c. 1840]. Oblong 2° (423 x 557mm). 24 mounted tinted lithographic views by Jacottet and Regamey after Charlemagne, printed by Lemercier, Paris, with captions in Russian and French. (First plate with short tear at margin, spotting on just one or two plates, penultimate plate partially detached, without title-page or text.) Contemporary green morocco-backed boards, title stamped in gilt on upper cover (extremities rubbed, spine torn at foot). A FINE AND RARE SET OF PLATES, including views of the Palais de Marbre and Palais d'Hiver across the river Neva; the Place de l'Amirauté with the shop of the publisher, Daziaro, on the corner; a military parade outside the Palais de Paul Ier; the Hermitage Museum; the fountains of the Palais de Peterhof by night; a fine perspective along the Grande Morskoi ; the Pont du Palais and Quai Anglais ; and a second view of the Winter Palace under snow.
