Charles Frodsham No. 1720: An impressive Victorian ormolu-mounted walnut month-going wall regulator , the well-figured case with ogee base applied with foliate entre-lac mounts, similar mounts to the trunk door with twin locks, flanked by chamfered angles applied with foliate volutes and trailing mounts emblamatic of the arts, bezelled glazed sides, the break-arched hood with similar mounts to the angles and surmounted by flowering finials, the glazed door with finely engraved gilt mask to the arched dial overlaid with a fine florally pierced and chased mask incorporating the signature Chas. Frodsham No. 1702 above the silvered chapter ring with painted Roman chapters and with blued fleurs de lys hands, the centre with similarly pierced and chased mask with subsidiary seconds ring below XII and up-and-down indication above VI numbered 1-35 and inscribed Wind 1st of the month , the substantial four double-screwed pillar movement secured with three brackets into the seat board, twin chain fusee with maintainin power and dead beat escapement with jewelled pallets, the anchor arbor pivots and escape wheel pivots jewelled in screwed chaton, beat adjustment to the crutch, the steel-cased mercury pendulum suspended from a bracket on the back board swinging against the typical silvered beat-scale below signed Chas. Frodsham. 84 Strand, London , original walnut handled winding key 62in. (158cm.) high
