Holmes, who was an illustrator primarily focused on depicting horses, also designed an exceptional series of at least five posters for the Boston & Maine Railraod, four of which featured bright, elegant, interwar New England get-a-ways, such as "The Boat Train," "Old Orchard Beach," "Revere Beach" and "Lake Winnepesaukee." This is his only nocturnal image and the only poster promoting that line's route north to Canada. Rare - previously unrecorded.
