Château Léoville-Barton--Vintage 1996 Saint-Julien, 2me cru classé Tasting Note: Showing well at the Opening Union des Grands Crus tasting, April 1997: opaque; cedary; good flavour, silky-leathery tannic texture; fragrant. Classic fragrant, similar texture, good length but acidity noted (MW tasting November 2000). Most recently: now a plummy purple; mocha, coffee nose, more meaty than the '95; crisp fruit, lean, good but rather tart.
