CHÂTEAU LÉOVILLE POYFERRÉ Poyferré had in the past been seen as traditional if somewhat reticent St. Julien expression. Since the landmark 1990 vintage, however, they have followed one stupendous effort with another. The tannic purple streak may best be explained by the increased percentage of Petit Verdot, a varietal that is gaining face with other quality conscious chateaux vinifying age worthy wines.
