Provenance : Daniel and Mimi Elkind (pencilled inscriptions from the ?artist, one 'with much appreciation'). COPY V OF V ARTIST'S PROOFS OF THE DELUXE ISSUE, finely bound by Daniel Kelm and with a copy of the regular issue, both with all the engravings signed or initialed by the artist, and with an original drawing and two additional suites of engravings, one of these in multiple states, all signed by the artist and inscribed to Arnold and Mimi Elkind. This remarkable production 'contains three versions of this notorious and celebrated tale, the original (1865), translated into French, and then "restored to the English after martyrdom in the French"' (colophon).
