[George Augustus Sala], Ironbrace, Woodenhead & Co., 1851, twenty-three hand-coloured wood engraved leaves bound concertina-style, each with cartoon illustrations and humourous text, a little toned and spotted, page block detached at second fold (i.e between second and third leaf), third fold partially split, bound into original cloth, with hand-coloured engraved label on upper cover (label rubbed and browned), 12.5 x 11cm (5 x 4.25ins) Rare comic account of the Great Exhibition: we have traced only three copies sold at auction in the last forty years, and COPAC lists copies at the British Library and National Library of Scotland only. British Library notes that the imprint is fictitious, and that the actual publisher is Adolphus Ackermann. (1)
