Chris Darway Sculptural Radio Brooch Sterling silver, mixed metal, stone Lambertville, New Jersey, contemporary design The textured sterling silver rectangle suspended from an exposed wire pin frame, decorated with various metal components, including a speaker grate, and bezel-set pink cabochon knobs, marked C. DARWAY/ STERLING on back, lg. including pin 2 1/2, wd. 3 in. Note: From the artist's bio: "Growing up with the car culture of New Jersey in the 1950's and 1960's, [Chris Darway] was always fascinated by the inner workings of machines. His father was a mechanical engineer and his grandfather, whose tools he still uses, was a machinist. Darway studied craft design at the Philadelphia College of Art (PCA) majoring in metals, where the focus was on small-scale works of jewelry."
