“Morgen efter stormen på København 1659. Kong Frederik III besøger valpladsen ved fregatten “Højenhal” i Kalvebodstrand”. The morning after the storm of Copenhagen 1659. King Frederik III visits the battlefield at the frigate “Højenhal” at Kalvebodstrand. Signed and dated Chr. Mølsted 1919. Oil on canvas. 147×236 cm. Exhibited: Charlottenborg 1919 no. 425. Literature: Rikard Magnussen: “Christian Mølsted”, from the series: “Danske kunstnere, udgivet af Foreningen for National Kunst”, vol. II, 1935, mentioned p. 58, reproduced p. 61. Provenance: Merchant Sønnich Olsen (1919). The attack on Copenhagen by the Swedish Army on 10 and 11 February 1659 was a major battle in the Northern Wars. It took place during the Swedish siege of Copenhagen and resulted in a Danish victory.
