oil on copperunframed: 51.4 x 66.2 cm.; 20¼ x 26 in.framed: 64 x 79 cm.; 25¼ x 31⅛ in.Condition reportThe copper panel is relatively flat and stable. The paint surface is clean and the varnish is clear. There is no apparent damage to the naked eye and the painting presents well. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals scattered retouchings throughout the composition, notably concentrated in the sky, the female figure and child in the foreground and along the left margin. The picture is in overall good condition.

Another version of this composition, also given to the circle of Elsheimer, is also recorded in the The Hallwyl Museum, Stockholm.2
