Lot of 10 CDVs, featuring six identified subjects, accompanied by four portraits of unknown soldiers including a captain with his wife, inscribed "With much love to all" on mount below image, and backmark of Vail & Elton, Palmyra, NY; a private with his wife, verso imprint of H. Lazier, Syracuse & Oswego, NY; a standing studio view of a soldier wearing epaulettes and tall leather boots, verso imprint of Morgan & Farach, Brooklyn, NY (light water stain visible on mount verso); and a vignetted portrait of a soldier sporting a long beard, verso imprint of F. Forshew, Hudson, NY. Identified subjects include: standing view of Lieutenant George H. Wing, his shoulder straps, buttons, and hat insignia highlighted in gold, autographed on verso by Wing while with the 14th New York Heavy Artillery. Verso with studio imprint of Crandell & Conkey, Glen's Falls, NY and two cent revenue stamp. Wing enlisted in August 1862 and was mustered into Co. A, NY 118th Infantry; was discharged for promotion in January 1864 and commissioned in March 1864 into Co. L, 14th NY Heavy Artillery as a second lieutenant. He was taken prisoner 7/30/1864 at Petersburg, VA and Confined at Macon, GA, later paroled, and discharged for disability in May 1865. Seated portrait of Captain David Pletcher, verso with penciled identification and imprint of George Barker (New York). Pletcher enlisted in September 1861 in Buffalo, NY as a sergeant and mustered into Co. F, 10th NY Cavalry; re-enlisted in December 1863; transferred in June 1865 to Co. F, NY 1st Prov'l Cavalry; and mustered out in July 1865 at Cloud's Mills, VA. Uncredited standing studio view of Colonel James H. Perry, 48th New York Volunteers. Perry was a 49 year-old minister that enlisted in July 1861 in Brooklyn, NY as a colonel and was commissioned into Field & Staff, 48th NY Infantry three months later. He died of disease on June 18, 1862 at Fort Pulaski, GA (died of apoplexy as per HDS). (CDV mount with rounded bottom left and right corners). Uncredited bust view of a young soldier identified in period ink on verso as "W.B. Lathrop / Erie Co. NY, Eden / Killed at Port Hudson 1863." Lathrop enlisted as a private in August 1862 at Eden, NY and mustered into Co. H, 116th NY Infantry one month later. He was wounded at Donaldsonville, LA on July 13, 1863 and died of wounds on August 5, 1863 at New Orleans. (Some smudges, scattered spots on print and mount). Portrait of a mustached soldier wearing a medal on his chest, with inked identification of "Col. Maise" (?) on verso and imprint of Moulton & Larkin, Elmira, NY. (Mount verso with slight loss to surface, possibly a result of a revenue stamp being removed, few stains on print). Mathew Brady, NY, carte de visite of a mustached gentleman, ink inscribed below portrait, "Yours Truly J.H. Fairbanks." (Some smudging/staining on print). With inked address on mount verso. Condition: Range in condition, from light toning to more moderate toning to print/mount. Some scattered spots/smudges.
