Lithographed title and 16 lithographed maps on 17 mapsheets, most double-page (lower corners of "Antietam" torn away, title a bit frayed at edges, first two mapsheets with some light soiling and spotting). Laid loose in modern cloth portfolio. FIRST EDITION. "Detailed series of maps indicating fortifications, roads, railroads, houses, names of residents, fences, drainage, vegetation and relied by hachures" (Richard W. Stephenson, Civil War Maps in the Library of Congress , 518). The maps cover the battlefields of the Wilderness, Spotsylvania, North Anna, Totopotomoy, Cold Harbor, the sieges of Petersburg and Richmond, and the battles of Five Forks, Jetersville, Highbridge, Farmville and Appomatox Courthouse.
