(14 1/8 x 11 3/8 x 1 1/2in.), red morocco, covers with double gilt fillet border enclosing an overall panel design of four quintuple gilt fillet rectangular compartments and a triple gilt fillet interlocked strapwork incorporating ornamental cornerpieces around a decorative central panel; spines in six compartments with five raised bands, gilt lettered in two compartments, a quadruple gilt fillet panel in the rest; board edges with double gilt fillet, turn-ins gilt, white vellum gilt bordered doublures, vellum free endleaves, g.e., stamp-signed by the bindery on upper turn-ins and dated 1898, joints cracked, some wear to extremities. LIMITED EDITION, one of 200 copies, all on Imperial Japanese paper, PRESENTATION COPY FROM ROBERT HOE TO HIS DAUGHTER RUTH, inscribed on fly-leaf of vol. I "For my daughter Ruth, and bound for her at the Club Bindery. Christmas 1901. Robert Hoe.", title-pages printed in red and black, full-page plates comprising etchings by F. Raubicheck, lithographs by Prang & Co. and Julius Bien & Co. and artotypes [i.e. collotypes] by Edward Bierstadt a few plates in color.
