COLARDEAU, Charles Pierre. Oeuvres , Paris: Ballard and Le Jay, 1779. 2 volumes, 8° (224 x 141mm), titles and half titles printed in red and black, engraved portrait after Voiriot and 11 plates by Née, Ponce and others after Monnet, plate of Lettre d'Héloïse à Abeilard in first state, avant la lettre (portrait and plates a little stained), London red morocco c.1800 by Upham & Beet with their ticket, flat spines gilt, wide border round sides composed of a Greek key border and large floral and acorn tools, infilled cornerpieces made up of small and large tools, gilt edges (one compartment of spine of volume II darkened). Provenance : contemporary price inscription in volume I '2 vol. 3.. 3.. 0' -- Thomas Curtis (small oval vellum armorial bookplate). See Ramsden p.143 where he calls these binders Upton & Beet but gives the same address, 46 New Bond St. Cohen-de Ricci 246. (2)
