Lot of over 150 magic lantern slides, some hand colored, many with descriptive labels (both printed and handwritten). Many of the slides were published by McIntosh Battery & Optical Co., Chicago, IL. The collection is comprised of a small group of slides capturing locations in California and Hawaii, including Santa Catalina Island (published by F.H. Maude, Los Angeles), Mossbrae Falls in California and a train passing through Mount Tamalpais in Mill Valley, CA (both published by G. Kanzee, San Francisco), palace grounds in Honolulu (slide is cracked), a Hawaiian hotel, "Moonlight near Honolulu," a few military views taken in Cuba, plus an execution scene that is not labeled (although it may relate to Cuba?). The majority of the slides document cities, towns, cathedrals, museums, and other landmarks throughout France and England (mainly Paris and London), with a few other European countries included. At least 10 slides also capture people, landmarks, and landmarks in Japan. Plus magnifying device manufactured by E. & H.T. Anthony, New York and Chicago. Condition: Condition ranges from very good to rough, with some cracked glass, some with cracked emulsion, some that have undergone molding.
