11 plaques, medals and other Items Commemorating Theodor Herzl. Israel (one item from the USA), ca. 1940s-1960s 1-2. Two oval plaques, cast, with a profile relief of Herzl, inscribed on the base: "Dr. Binyamin Ze'ev Herzl, Iyar 10, 1860 – Tamuz 20, 1904". [ca. 1940s-50s]. Two medals and two plaques commemorating Herzl, designed by Shmuel Krechmer: • Medal for "Keren HaYesod", issued, apparently, on the occasion of "Herzl Year" (1955 or 1960). • Medal with Herzl's profile, seven branched Menorah, seven stars and the legend "If you will it, it is no dream". • Two round plaques, one made of copper and the other made of brass, with a relief of Herzl's profile. 7. Medal – one hundred years since Herzl's birth. Obverse: Herzl's profile and the legends "Theodor Herzl", "1860-1960". Reverse: Symbols of the Twelve Tribes of Israel and the legends "Israel, Iyar 5, 1948" (Hebrew) and "Israel, 14 Mai 1948". 8-9. Two medals – liberation of Jerusalem. Obverse: Herzl's profile and the legends "Our Will was no Legend " (Hebrew and English). Reverse: Soldier standing by the Western Wall and the legend: "Liberation of Jerusalem". 10. Medal for the 50th anniversary of the Balfour declaration. Obverse: Herzl's profile and the legend "Our will was no legend" (Hebrew and English). Signed Duda (David Edelstein). Reverse: the Knesset surmounted by a citation from the Balfour Declaration: "A national home for the Jewish People, Balfour and Parliament House" and below: "A National Home for the Jewish People, Balfour 1917-1969". 11. Pin with the portrait of Theodor Herzl. The letters ZOA [Zionist Organization of America] appear below. 12. Promotional pendant. Obverse: Herzl' profile and the dates 1904-1954. Reverse: a horse surrounded by the legend "GIL-TEX– Symbol of Quality", 1954. Size and condition vary. Good overall condition. Provenance: Morton Leventhal Collection, New York.
