Beschreibung:

Lot of 8 photographs, the majority of which are cabinet cards, depicting servicemen in uniform. These are primarily soldiers from the Indian Wars and the Spanish-American War, enlisted in state militias from Michigan and New York, based on the badges on their kepis, which display their rank, regiment, and branch insignia. Pencil inscriptions on verso suggest that the solider in the portrait credited to C.E. Lewis, Alma and St. Louis, MI, may be a band member, while the portrait by Hillman, Buffalo, NY captures a National Guardsman from the 65th New York Infantry. The photograph of the standing figure with medals is likely a Prussian Landstrum, from the Franco-Prussian War period, wearing a bayonet complete with sword knot denoting company assignment. On the table to his right is what appears to be a model 1860 shako complete with plate and cockade. Also includes one tintype of three soldiers in uniform. Condition: Creasing and wear to corners, some with light staining. Tintype bare and missing two corners.
