Final Issue was 111. The American magazine "Popular Photography" published from 1938 to 1940 a comic series the "History of Photography", humorous and illustrated by F. C. Sagendorf, the artist who drew Popeye. Each cartoon corresponds to an issue of "Popular Photography" which depicted photo history as a series of inventions, discoveries and actions. Photographs played absolutely no role, while the inventors and developers of photographic technology were the main focus of attention. University of California; Directory of Photographic Collections: "This is the first directory of the photographic collections of the University of California. It has been compiled as part of the University Survey of Photographic Resources, a special project of the California Museum of Photography at UC Riverside, and was funded by the University's Office of the President. The directory has been designed to introduce scholars from all fields to the research possibilities of the collections listed." From the introduction. The Photographist and WPCA. In the late 1960’s, camera collectors in Southern California were only loosely associated with each other. Round robin meetings took place at different collectors’ homes. Eventually, a large hall was found at a local church in Whittier and at the first meeting, officers were chosen. Bill Carroll was elected President. After much debate, the name WPCA (Western Photographic Collectors Association) was chosen. A founding member of the WPCA was Dr. Robert Bingham, a renowned orthopedic surgeon from Riverside. Dr. Bingham already had his collection on display at The Mission Inn in Riverside. Dr. Bingham organized several camera trade shows which were held originally at the Mission Inn and later on the campus of the University of California, Riverside. These were the first photographic trade shows ever held in Southern California. In order to make it possible to promote upcoming shows, Dr. Bingham started a newsletter in May 1969 with the title Western Photographic Collectors' Association Newsletter. There were 27 Newsletters published from May 1969 through December 1974, at which time Bill Carroll took over as
