Original plain pink publisher's boards, in a pink card slipcase. 5 inches (13 cm); [1] f., iv (includes the colored title), 240 pp., with folding plate at rear, and twelve gemlike plates of roses by Pancrace Bessa rendered in color stipple engraving (finished by hand) by Teillard, each with protective tissue. Slipcase defective (lacking base); short split just starting on rear joint, else a clean and sound copy; Together with MALO, CHARLES. La Corbeille des Fruits. Paris: Louis Janet, [1818]. Full red morocco of the period. 5 inches (13 cm); [1] f., viii , 188 pp., with twelve superb plates (including title, as called for) of fruits by Pancrace Bessa rendered in color stipple engraving finished by hand, each with protective tissue. A fine copy. N.B. This copy does not contain the calendar for 1818 mentioned by Dunthorne. Two very beautiful gift books with plates by the great Pancrace Bessa a pupil of Redoute.
