.36 caliber, 7.5" octagonal barrel with New York address, S/N 3307 (made in 1852). Square back brass triggerguard, and brass backstrap. Exquisite Mexican eagle carved ivory grips. Accompanying this revolver are documents attributing ownership to Corporal Louis E. Johnson Company A., 24th Michigan Infantry, wounded at Gettysburg, July 1st, 1863. Eighteen-year-old Johnson transferred to the VRC in July 1864 and mustered out of service in July 1865 as a private (not listed as corporal). The gun is not otherwise inscribed or identified to Johnson. Condition: Barrel, loading lever, cylinder and frame are grey-to-brown with some traces of touch-up blue mixed with some light pitting. Markings are clear, wedge and some screws are replacements. Backstrap and triggerguard have been cleaned and have begun to re-patinate. Ivory grips are old and have a nice dark yellow patina.
