Copy tintype of Parsons in uniform holding his sword, matted and framed to approx. 6.5 x 8.5 oval. Mosby Monroe Parsons (1819-1867) was born in Virginia, but moved to Missouri early in life. He studied law, and from 1853 - 1857 he was the attorney-general of Missouri before being elected to the state Senate. He fought in the US Army during the Mexican War, gaining some repute. He returned to Missouri, serving in the state forces. He fought at the Battle of Pea Ridge and through the Arkansas campaigns of the next year. He received his Confederate commission as Brig. Gen. in November 1862. After the war, he went to Mexico to help the republican forces fighting against Maximilian. He was killed in Mexico in Aug. 1865. Condition: Not removed from frame for examination.
