Place: Glendale, California Publisher: The Arthur Clark Company Date: 1983-93 Description: 11 volumes. Portraits; maps; plates, etc. (8vo) 9x6, full brown leather stamped in gilt top edges in purple. Keepsakes inserted. Each one of 33 copies of the 'Collector's Edition', of which 30 were for sale. Each volume signed by the editor. Volume ten also signed by Robert A. Clark Volume five signed by the editor and co-editor - David C. Dunaway, in addition to being an Editorial Room Copy. With the Volume 3 special keepsake "To Remember The Trail" a limited edition print of an original drawing by Jose Cisneros commissioned by the Clark Company, with a four page brochure. One of five artist proof prints signed by Cisneros. Keepsake belonging to volume ten missing. Diaries and letters of women on the overland trails to the west, reprinted verbatim. A noteworthy compilation making available much hitherto forgotten source material. Clark Bibliography, 144; Kurutz, 340. Lot Amendments Condition: Slight flaking of gilt on spine of volume eight; else fine. Item number: 249468
