Beschreibung:

Eagle's Nest Mine, Placer County, California Since 1982, when it was first mentioned in an article by Wayne Leicht in Mineralogical Record the Eagle's Nest locality has been a sought-after source for fine crystallized gold specimens. Sadly in recent years other activities have diverted the mine owners' financial resources from production thereby limiting any new specimens reaching the market. In the last 20 years fewer than half a dozen significant specimens have emerged—and only a couple of those have been worthy of being named. (The "Dragon", on display at the Houston Museum of Natural Science, is the only other significant specimen that comes to mind). This substantial and evocative gold specimen was found in the 1980s. It was dubbed –"The Bonsai Tree"—not only for its notable arborescent crystal habit with its branch-like aggregates of flattened gold crystals—but also for its iconic appearance of a gnarled bonsai tree growing perched upon a rocky outcrop. This is a spectacular piece from a spectacular locality, the gold crystalline mass itself is 5 inches tall—many times larger than any other specimen of its kind available on the market. Traditionally crystallized gold of this particular type has appreciated in value over the last 20 years at a significantly greater rate in comparison to bullion gold. Aesthetically perched on a hillock of white quartz—this is a museum-quality specimen worthy of the most advanced mineral connoisseur's contemplation. It is a work of art—a natural wonder whose beauty is sure to be appreciated by even the novice collector. Measures 5 ½ x 4 ¾ x ¾ in Offered on a custom-fitted Lucite base.
