The work is a facsimile of Richard Forster's copy of the original edition printed by John Day and William Seres in 1548, one of only two known. It is an anti-Catholic satire taking the form of a dialogue between the honest John Bon and the parson, Mast. Richard Heber's copy of this edition is inscribed to the effect that 25 copies were printed, all on vellum, However, BMC lists an ordinary copy, a large-paper copy and one on vellum; and Alston states that the vellum issue consisted of only 12 copies.
