Signature: signed lower right Medium: oil on canvas Dimensions: 41 by 51cm., 16 by 20in. Micheál de Burca was born in Castlebar, Co. Mayo and studied at the Metropolitan School of Art, Dublin. He regularly exhibited with the RHA where landscapes dominated his subject matter. In 1940 he wa... as appointed Art Inspector for the Department of Education and in 1942, acting Director of the National College of Art and Design. De Burca was instrumental in re-establishing the crafts of stained glass, metal work, weaving and painting in the college.
