Painter Cyril Mandel from Kuzelov nearby Velká nad Velickou in the White Carpathians. Studied in Valasské Mezirící and Uherské Hradiste, where his talent was recognized by Josef Klvana, who recommended him to study at the Secondary School of Applied Arts in Prague. In 1890 he started studying at the Academy of Fine Art at prof. Sequens and Vojtech Hynais. After a longer pause caused by serious illness he graduated in the late 1893/4. In his works he focused on everyday life scenes, portraits and landscape. He accepted offer by his friend Joza Uprka to carry out his sketch for theatre curtain in Tisnov. In Tisnov Mandel meets Ms Kloty. Their promissing relationship failed due to Kloty's parents. We are bidding the collection of correspondence and watercolours from that particular period of Mandel's life. Anothe rpart of the collection is made up of correspondence between Mrs Kloty and the House of Arts in Hodonín, muzeums in Stráznice and Uherské Hradiste, concerning lending of works for exhibitions in 1965. Further years spent in Velecko were rich in Mandel's cultural contacts with Joza and Franta Uprka Zdenka Braunerová V. Stretti, Milos Jiránek, August Rodin and others. He was strongly influenced by friendship with Milos Jiránek. Cyril Mandel's paintings are full of accidental character of impressionism, dynamism and potential movement which is unique for that period of fine art works. Ausrufpreis: 300
