Beschreibung:

DANTE ALIGHIERI - Cristoforo LANDINO - Commedia di Dante con figure dipinte. Roma: Salerno, 2014. A reproduction of codex C 23, an incunabulum published in Venice on 18 November 1491 in the typography of Pietro Piasi Cremonese. The decoration of the codex is sumptuous: more than 400 miniatures and 100 woodcuts embellish it, as well as 3 full-page illustrations by the Venetian artist Antonio Grifo. The edition is accompanied by the "Comento sopra la Comedia" by Cristoforo Landino, the famous Florentine humanist. Little is known about the history of this codex, which may have belonged to Pietro da Figino, editor of the text, as demonstrated by the numerous handwritten glosses in the margins. It was purchased in auction in 1927 by the Italian government. (340 x 225mm). Copy no. 10 of 499. Calf binding with rich decorations and gilt title on spine. With the commentary volume.
