Half-title, folding lithographic diagram by William West after Darwin, uncut and partially unopened. 32-page publisher's catalogue at rear dated January 1860. Publisher's blind-stamped green cloth, spine gilt, brown coated endpapers, uncut and partially unopened, by Edmonds and Remnants with their ticket on the lower paste-down. Minor rubbing to upper joint, and very light spotting to fore-edge. Provenance: W.A. Wright, Trinity College, Cambridge (contemporary inscription); Edward Bradford Titchener (1867-1927) English-born psychologist, professor at Cornell University, and instrumental in the establishment of experimental psychology in the United States; by descent to the current owner. SECOND EDITION, SECOND ISSUE. A particularly fine, fresh copy. Freeman 376 (variant b).
