Richmond, 16 March 1865. 1½ pages, 8vo, written on recto and verso, tape remnants on final verso. JEFFERSON DAVIS WRITES TO HIS SON IN THE TRENCHES 18 DAYS BEFORE THE FALL OF RICHMOND. "... I was very happy that my dear boy was able to write to me about himself and to give me news from the trenches. We all miss you very much and are only willing to spare you so long because you seem to be so happy with your Cousin Joe..." [With:] DAVIS, MARGARET HOWELL. Autograph letter signed ("Maggie Howell Davis") to "My Dear little Brother" [Jefferson Davis, Jr.], regarding how lonesome she is without him, and sending regards from others. Richmond, VA, 11 March 1865. One page, small 8vo, some mounting remnents on verso. "...I wish you would come home. I am so very lonsome. I am very sorry that I told you that I would be glad if you would go... I wish I could see your sweet little face..." (2)
