DEANE & SON, LONDON AN EXQUISITE CASED 250-BORE PERCUSSION DELUXE MINIATURE PEPPERBOX REVOLVER, no visible serial number, circa 1840 and possibly for the central Asian or Indian market with 1 7/8in. fully fluted six-shot barrel group, each barrel with scroll engraving at muzzle and breech, further engraved band at muzzle and engraved securing screw to central spindle, fully gilded and scroll engraved boxlock action with radiused corners and full moulded nipple guard, the sides of action signed in central banners 'DEANE & SON' on the left and 'KING WILLIAMS ST, LONDON BRIDGE' on the right, fully scroll engraved central bar hammer, scroll engraved and gilded top and bottom tang, the top tang with sliding safe, smooth ivory grip fully decorated in a floral design formed from tiny gilt pins, border engraved gold oval to wrist and scroll engraved domed gilded butt-cap with central trapdoor, traces of finish and colour to non-gilded parts and complete with its manufacturers leather covered storage case embossed with a diamond chequer pattern and decorated with gilt bands, the interior lined and compartmented in the continental style in blue velvet and containing the pistol along with a diminutive white metal bag-shaped flask, a small iron scissors ball-mould, a silver-tipped ebony loading rod with bone pommel, matching horn handled turn-screw and nipple-key and an oil-bottle and bone cap pot.
