DESNOS, LOUIS CHARLES. L'Indicateur fidle ou guide des voyageurs. Paris, 1765. Double-page engraved title, double-page pictorial engraved dedication, general map, plan of Paris and 17 engraved double-page or folding road maps by Michel, all with hand-coloring. Bound in at end are a 10-page letterpress index of towns appearing on the maps and an 8-page prospectus for the work including a 6-page index. 4to, contemporary paper boards, rear board cracked through, worming to lower margin of a few maps. Second, enlarged edition of Desnos' popular road-book, first published in 1764 with 13 maps, and frequently reprinted. A small format version of the guide first appeared in 1771, under the title trennes utiles... aux commerants et voyageur, ou Indicateur fidle... (see lots ***). Valle 968 (1780 ed.)
