Early full crushed red levant, spine in 6 compartments with 5 raised bands, gilt–lettered in 3, top edge gilt, gilt dentelles, gilt stamp–signed by Zaehnsdorf, also with their EXHIBITION OVAL STAMP IN GILT on rear pastedown (light rubbing along joints); original publisher’s green moiré horizontally ribbed blind–stamped cloth with gilt lettered spine bound in. FIRST EDITION IN BOOK FORM, WITH THE FIRST BINDING. This was one of two novels by Dickens issued without illustrations but is seen here being extra–illustrated with original watercolors and engravings. A UNIQUE COPY.
