A masterpiece by Diego Giacometti most probably unique, the present console includes some of the most iconic motifs (bird, frogs and tree) of the artist and exhibits a stunning patina. The patinated bronze surfaces exhibit brown tones overall with hints of dark green giving it subtle variations and a cloudy aspect that enhance the sculptural quality of the work. The patinated bronze presents with light vert-de-gris stains and oxidation marks throughout, one more visible vert-de-gris stain on the bird on the proper right. There are losses of patina with rubbing marks on the front proper right leg and on the back proper left foot. The edge along the glass top presents with rubbing marks.Small cracks of 0.5 cm on a leaf and another one on the proper left bird, most probably due to the casting process, which do not affect the stability of the piece.The original clear glass tabletop is in good condition and presents with visible surface scratches, a tiny dent along an edge and with rust stains.All consistent with gentle use and age.
