New York: Disturnell, 1836. 16mo (4 ¾ x 3 ¼ inches, 120x82 mm). Lithographed frontispiece view, and two hand-colored engraved folding maps. Publisher's cloth, with a paper label on the upper cover. Condition: Minor foxing and toning; backstrip defective, binding worn at edges, label abraded. an excellent early guide to new york state. The maps are titled “Hudson River & Vicinity” (by David H. Burr) and “Map of the State of New York.” Within the text, which contains sections on New York City, Saratoga Springs, Lake George, and Niagara Falls, numerous tables give information on population, steamship routes, canal tolls, stage routes, and railroads. This is a variant issue of Rumsey 4525, without the miniature map of New York City.
