DIWAN OF AMIR KHUSRAW DIHLAWI (D.1325 AD) SAFAVID IRAN, EARLY 16TH CENTURY Poetry, Persian manuscript on gold-speckled paper, 254ff. plus three fly-leaves, each folio with 14ll. of elegant black nasta'liq script arranged in two columns and divided by a black and gold-ruled band of floral arabesques in gold and polychrome, headings in fine gold nasta'liq script outlined in black amidst illuminated scrolls within cartouche, the text framed by thick blue, black and orange-ruled gold frame, opening folio with elegant illuminated headpiece incorporated from a 16th century Safavid manuscript of Matla' al-Anwar , final folio with illuminated panels, the colophon now hardly legible but possibly dated AH 917 and signed, later added notes in Persian, in 19th century Qajar lacquer binding with floral decoration Text panel 6¼ x 3¼in. (16 x 8.3cm.); folio 9 5/8 x 6in. (24.5 x 15.3cm.)
