DORSET. Grant by Matilda de Rodray of the vills of Tincleton and Ilsington, n.d. [late 13th century]. In Latin. On vellum, 9 lines on a single membrane, 130 x 260mm, docketed 'Tincledene' on verso, vellum tag (lacking seal, a few small punctures, minor soiling). An attractive late 13th-century charter. A grant by Matilda de Rodray to Catalina her daughter of her rights in the vills of 'Tingleden' [Tincleton] and 'Hilsington' [Ilsington]; a rent of two pence is to be paid at Pentecost, and the lands are to revert to Matilda and her heirs if Catalina has no heirs of her own. The witnesses are Ralph Belet, Adam Syrad, Sir Alexander de Stafford, Geoffrey ?Erull, Henry Syrad, Robert ?Erull, John Tomp, J le Henley [?] and Henry Clerk. Tincleton and Ilsington lie on the River Frome, a few miles east of Dorchester.
