On the verso of the free endpapers and blanks are six manuscript prayers , apparently in the hand of former owner William Towns, whose signature dated Nov. 6, 1811 is above the first manuscript prayer, entitled "A Prayer before a Journey." Double fore-edge painting; the first is a view of Rye, Sussex and the second is a nautical scene with several ships in the fore- and background.
