London: Mr. Jolliffe, Mr. Corbett, and Mr. Clarke, 1748-49. “What hath been done by those who have formerly gone upon the Discovery of a North-West passage, hath been made public either by themselves or others, with the Intent that the succeeding Attempters might avoid the Hazards and Dangers they had met with, and benefit by their observations.” The first edition of an anonymously published work documenting Captain William Moor’s expedition to seek out the Northwest Passage . "Drage's Account is a significant item in the literature relating to the attempts at finding the Northwest Passage" (Streeter). Arthur Dobbs, unhappy with the results of Christopher Middleton’s 1741-42 voyage and convinced that the captain was conspiring with the Hudson's Bay Company, sent Moor on a second journey to re-examine Wager Bay—with similarly disappointing results. Sabin 20808 & 82549; Streeter sale 3640; TPL 206. Two volumes, octavo (197 x 117mm). 6 engraved folding maps, 4 engraved plates (repair to second map in vol. 2). Later 19th-century green half calf over marbled boards, spine gilt. Provenance : William E. Boeing (1881-1956, founder of the Boeing Company; bookplate) – Restoration Books.
