(7 3/4 x 4 3/4 in), laid onto album leaf, with trimmed contemporary pen and ink inscription identifying the sitter, minor surface dirt, mounted but unframed, [circa 1835] Provenance: Originally from an album containing original drawings by French artists, including Isabey, Pierre Francois Eugene Giraud, Le Poitevin, and Auguste Caron See lot 198 ⁂ The present caricature shows the young author in military dress, and bears a close similarity to the caricature by Pierre Luc Charles Ciceri, now held in Le Musée Carnavalet, Paris.
