Archive of 39 autograph manuscript notebooks, thousands of pages, rectos and versos, 8vo, mostly in heavy pencil, some minor dampstaining. EXTENSIVE ARCHIVE RELATING TO THE INDIANIST MOVEMENT IN AMERICAN MUSIC. Lyrics, stories and general notes from the American poet best-remembered today for the lyrics of "The Land of Sky-Blue Waters." Eberhardt's other collaborations with the composer Charles Wakefield Cadman included "At Dawning" and the opera "Shanewis" and separately "The White Dawn Is Steal­ing," "Far Off I Hear a Lov­er's Lute," "The Moon Drops Low," "From Wig­wam to Tee­pee," and "I Hear a Thrush at Eve." Eberhardt frequently traveled with Cadman who was an important collector of Native American music. His cylinder recordings of native music taken in the Indian Territory are at the Smithsonian. WITH: Two large scrapbooks belonging to Nelle Eberhardt's daughter, the opera singer Constance Eberhardt. These include clippings, correspondence and at least one signed photograph. There is also a monograph on Constance Eberhardt's career published by Arlouine Wu in 1983.
